Congrats Chief Hedrick. Thank you for your hard work and dedication in making sure we are properly trained. Well deserved sir!Today, Chief Jim Hedrick was notified he received the Virginia Governor's Award for Excellence in Fire Service Training. The Governor’s Fire Service Awards were established in 2002 as a formal recognition of excellence in Virginia’s Fire Services through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.

Chief Hedrick has served as the Fairfax County #Fire and #Rescue Department's Volunteer #Training Coordinator since 2013 after retiring as a #Battalion Chief. As the Volunteer Training Coordinator, Chief Hedrick has ensured that the 500 operational volunteers, including 100 #firefighters and 350 #EMTs, obtain and maintain their certifications. #Volunteers within Fairfax County annually train over 50,000 hours, a nearly 20% increase since Chief Hedrick has become the VTC.

Congratulations, #Chief!
