Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, fire stations remain closed to the public, therefore, we will unfortunately not be able to host our annual Open House this year.
Instead, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will be hosting fun, interactive activities, and virtual events throughout Fire Prevention Week (FPW) beginning on Monday, October 5. This year’s FPW theme is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!”
All virtual events are free and below is a schedule of just a few activities taking place during the week – take note of Friday’s event as you just may see your very own Burke VFRD featured!
Monday, October 5: “survey your home for fire safety”
Tuesday, October 6: join us for a fabulous story time with fire safety superhero, flash max! And complete our “great escape challenge” and earn a special prize!
Wednesday, October 7: join our puppets and become the fire marshal for your home, it’s time to create your own safety badge!
Thursday, October 8: check out our demonstration “cooking with the firefighters” for an easy and delicious recipe that everyone in your family will enjoy!
*Friday, October 9: it’s time for the grand tour! Tag along with sparky the fire dog and look at day-to-day activities at one of our busy fire stations
Saturday, October 10: family fun Q&A with sparky and the firefighters, and much more!
